Youth Council
The Youth Council is seeking more members. If you know of someone you would like to nominate, please contact Janie Wheeler at 870-741-5404 or email Janie Wheeler

The Youth Council is a non-voting sub committee of the Northwest Arkansas Local Workforce Investment Board (LWIB)  The Youth Council is made up of:
 
a.  Members of the LWIB (three members of the LWIB currently serve on the Youth Council at this time)
b.  Representatives of Youth Service Agencies, including juvenile justice and local law enforcement agencies
c.  Parents of eligible Youth seeking assistance under the Workforce Investment Act
d.   Individuals, including former participants, and representatives of organizations, that have experience relating to youth activities; and
e.  Representatives of the Job Corps.
 
The Youth Council, with the approval of the LWIB:
a.  Recommends eligible providers of youth activities to be awarded grants or contracts on a competitive basis by the LWIB, to carry out the youth activities;
b.  Conducts oversight with respect to the eligible providers of youth activities in the local area; and
c.  Coordinates certain youth activities.
